Happy Holidays!
from the Sales Department:
Seasons Greetings!
Two days ago our sales site with the free sample offer appeared on a message board for freebies and then got picked up by a couple dozen others in rapid succession. It has been 24 hours since the sample requests started pouring into my inbox here in the sales department at Mean Green, and the number is over 30,000 requests now. I'd like to meet the entire
demand, but, initially at least, I can probably manage 100 or so per
week. I've put them into an excel document so I can sort out the
requests from companies and shops and start with them. I'm not at all
upset by this, though I worry that people won't understand if they
don't get their samples in a timely manner.
We are a small outfit, though we have no problem meeting the demand for
orders. The bulk of our customers have, for the last decade or so, been
car dealerships and tire shops. This had evolved from our initial
customers base which was mostly printers. Over the last year and a half
a large number of our customers have laid off large portions of their
workforce or simply closed up shop. So 2008 and 2009 have been challenging to
say the least. In spite of the fact that we have what I believe is the
best hand cleaner available on the market, we have a very small sales
force and still make and pack everything by hand here at the plant in
Dallas, Texas. What has happened over the last two days is that we have
been given a huge list of people who are apparently genuinely
interested in our product. If ten percent of the people who have
requested samples in the last 48 hours had ordered a 16oz jar of the
hand scrub, it would likely make it possible for me to mail out the
entire list of samples so far received right away. Twice that many and
I'm sure it would be a good Christmas here at the soap mines.
So we remain optimistic, and we wish everyone the happiest of holiday seasons. At the very least, 2010 looks to be a busy year.
